Island Horse & Pony Aid (IHPA) – Protecting Equine Welfare Across the Isle of Man

Contacting IHPA.

Island Horse & Pony Aid (IHPA) is a Manx registered charity dedicated to protecting and improving the welfare of horses, ponies, and donkeys across the Isle of Man.

The charity was originally established in 1991 as Island Pony Rescue, created to respond to the growing need for support for abandoned and neglected ponies on the Island. As the charity’s work expanded to help a wider range of equines and welfare situations, it evolved into Island Horse & Pony Aid, reflecting a broader commitment to equine welfare across the Isle of Man.

Today, IHPA continues that original mission - to help equines in need, support responsible ownership, and ensure animals receive the care and protection they deserve.

Thank you for your interest in fostering an equine with Island Horse & Pony Aid.

Foster homes play a vital role in helping us provide safe and suitable environments for horses, ponies, and donkeys that have come into the charity’s care.

When completing the form to the left, please provide details of any experience you have with keeping or caring for equines, along with information about the type of equine you would be willing to foster and the facilities you are able to offer. This helps us understand the environment you can provide and ensures we can match equines with appropriate foster homes.

Please note that all fostered equines must remain on the Isle of Man. Before any equine can be placed in foster care, a member of the charity will carry out a visit to check the suitability of the facilities. Successful applicants will also be required to sign a Foster Loan Agreement outlining the responsibilities and care requirements while the equine remains in the ownership of Island Horse & Pony Aid.

Should you have any questions before completing the application, please feel free to reach out.
